About Us

Nepal Microfinance Banker's Association (NMBA) is a non-profit and member based organization and was registered at District Administration Office in Kathmandu in 2006. It is a network of Class "D" microfinance financial institutions of Nepal and is also considered as an apex body of the institutions. Nepal Microfinance Bankers Association NMBA is a "D" class microfinance development banks and financial institutions licensed by Central Bank of Nepal. The sole purpose of promoting the microfinance sector and establishing conducive environment for client protection in the microfinance industry in Nepal.

NMBA seeks to work closely with regulators and other key stakeholders to achieve larger financial inclusive goals through microfinance. Currently NMBA member organizations consist of 48 microfinance .NMBA ensures and enhances the interrelationship and co-ordination among various microfinance members incorporated in Nepal . The main function of the association is to adopt and promote efficient strong and creative group members in Nepal based on modern dynamic principles and practices.

NMBA Board generally takes once a month or when working Committee fells to have a meeting. Currently in NMBA there are three staffs among them Executive Director, Coordinator and Program officer. It has its separate office at Bhagwati Bahal Naxal Kathmandu.

  • To support related agencies for policy formulation for conducive microfinance operations.
  • To take necessary action to build capacity of MFI's of Nepal coordinating with national and international organizations working in the field.
  • To help to maintain discipline of microcredit customer and develop professionalism among staffs of MFIs.

  • To support to set standards for performance indicators and norms of microfinance sector.
  • To develop healthy competition, cooperation among MFIs.To share information and knowledge among MFIs.
  • To promote personal and friendly relationship among members of the Association, holding conferences and meetings for the discussion of technical.
